Karma, or vows?

Ordinary beings live under the sway of karma.

Bodhisattvas live directed by their vows. 

  • Suffering beings are numberless. I vow to rescue them.
  • Delusions are inexhaustible. I vow to end them.
  • Dharma gates are boundless. I vow to open them wide.
  • The Great Middle Way is unsurpassable. I vow to become it for the benefit of all.
