Home Retreat

imagesDearest Sangha Members and Friends,

I trust that this message finds you safe and secure, and filled with courage and confidence.

During this difficult time, it is important to support each other and to remember the Dharma, seeing this as an opportunity to practice compassion and loving-kindness for ourselves and others.

At Nying Je Ling (Universal Compassion Buddhist Congregation), we are taking these steps to help us all do this. For the safety and health of all UCBC Sangha Members and Friends, all UCBC sessions are taking place online until further notice.

To help us stay in touch, we’re holding Virtual Sangha via Zoom on Sundays at 10 am, and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 7 pm, Central. Spanish-language Sangha will continue, as usual, on Saturdays at 10 am, CDMX Time.

You can join us from your home on https://zoom.us/j/825940300  [It is wise to download Zoom before your first use. As a courtesy to others, please mute your microphone during the meditation and until it is time to discuss the teachings.]

As my heartfelt offering to deepen your meditation, study, and practice, please find general guidance and resources below for conducting a HOME RETREAT. If you have any questions, email me at GreatMiddleWay@gmail.com

I ask that you pray for the well-being of all sentient beings, and follow the advice of your health professionals. This is a practice of loving-kindness, taking care of both yourself and those who you meet.

May we all emerge from this difficult time more courageous, stronger in our commitment to the Dharma, and filled with wisdom and compassion.

16-day Home Retreat on Mind Training

(1) Pre- and Post-Meditation prayers

(2) Three Gates guided meditation

(3) Mind Training texts and recorded lessons

Begin each session with Three Gates Meditation. (Please recite the Pre- and Post-Meditation Prayers.)

Then, for each day, read the appropriate Mind Training text in order and listen to the recorded discussions. After listening, answer these questions in writing, or at least mentally:

  1. What does this teaching mean to me?
  2. How would I share this teaching with others?
  3. How would this teaching have affected my past, can affect my present, and will affect my future?

After answering these questions to your satisfaction, please close your eyes, breathe, and rest, allowing the teaching to settle in your awareness.

Recite OM AMIDEVA HRIH as much as possible (one, three, or ten mala rounds is recommended).

Close your Retreat Session with the Dedication Prayer.
