The End of Becoming

64755069_124702118747881_8741361463681089536_nGain and loss, fame and infamy, praise and blame, pleasure and pain —these are the common human conditions, transitory, unstable, and subject to change. The wise, ever mindful, know these phenomena, seeing them as subject to change.

Pleasant experiences do not excite such minds, there is no decay of virtue due to grasping at or repulsion from these conditions.

The wise, knowing the path, realize nirvana, free of passion and sorrow. Such ones have found the end of becoming.

—Buddha Shakyamuni
