We identify ourselves with one or more of the five aggregates onto which individual existence is projected: form, sensation, perception, volition, and consciousness. Simply stated, we impute a self onto the body and the mind.
This process of identification takes the following forms: this is mine, this is me, this is my self. The first form is due to craving, the second to conceit, and the third to wrong view.
Craving, conceit, and wrong view are the three different aspects of the ego.
