bf2If any benefit were to be gained by lamenting, the wise would lament.

Only fools would harm themselves.

Through weeping and sorrowing the mind does not become calm,

but still more suffering is produced,

the body is harmed, and we become lean and pale.

We merely hurt ourselves.

We cannot protect a departed one by that means.

To grieve is in vain.

—Buddha Shakyamuni, The Arrow Sutra

This post stopped me in my tracks. I had been doing ‘grief work’, processing memories of lost loved ones. This reading is helping me return to the present. Thank you for your teachings, Tashi-La.
