If any benefit were to be gained by lamenting, the wise would lament.
Only fools would harm themselves.
Through weeping and sorrowing the mind does not become calm,
but still more suffering is produced,
the body is harmed, and we become lean and pale.
We merely hurt ourselves.
We cannot protect a departed one by that means.
To grieve is in vain.
