No Secrets — No Sides

Because the Buddha Shakyamuni clearly stated that secret teachings are the mark of false doctrine, Tashi Norbu Rinpoche instilled in us a commitment to the open and transparent teaching of the Dharma, without reserving some “hidden” truth or technique for a privileged clique or inner circle.

Why “no sides”? Kunchen Dolpopa always promoted that we practice and share the Dharma without sectarian animus, always depending on the Four Reliances:

  1. Rely on the message, not on the messenger.
  2. Rely on the meaning, not on the words.
  3. Rely on the intention, not on particular interest.
  4. Rely on the entirety of the Dharma, not on partial speculation.

When we take sides, we have decided that upholding pre-conceived idea is more important than pursuing truth wherever it may lead us —we limit and impoverish our capacity to understand the Dharma and make progress along the Path.

Therefore, faithful to the instruction of our Teachers, we practice and share the Dharma with No Secrets – No Sides.
