There are no enlightened “beings”. There are enlightened actions. Enlightenment consists of being kind and compassionate, avoiding attachment, aversion, and indifference. Being is a verb, not a person.
Enlightenment has been made into something difficult, exotic, strange, and very distant, when in reality it is just living day by day with the constant aspiration to benefit all beings.
We are all capable of enlightened action. We can be generous, ethical, honest, dedicated, and peaceful. When we string together a series of these enlightened acts, we are enlightened.
