5 Obstructions

Nagarjuna2Although the sun and moon are stainless,

their light is inhibited by the five obstacles,

such as clouds, mist, smoke, eclipses, and dust.

In the same way, the mind of clear light

becomes hindered by the five obstructions:

attachment, aversion, indifference, jealousy, and pride.

―Nagarjuna, In Praise of the Dharmadhatu
