The Mind Does Not Have…

heart-mindThe mind has no color, no shape, no weight,

no inside, no outside, no origin, and no cessation.

The mind has no color: it is not red with anger, or blue with sorrow, or yellow with fear, or green with envy, or black with despair…

The mind has no form: it is not made and complete, but rather changes constantly, assuming diverse forms, according to time, place, and circumstance…

The mind has no weight: it does not carry an unavoidable load or memories and experiences, nor is it burdened by the past…

The mind has no inside and no outside: there are no defined levels of interiority and surface, no sub- or super-consciousness, nor is the mind situated anywhere in particular…

The mind has no origin and no cessation: it does not arise with birth nor does it cease at death ―like a dream, we cannot identify its beginning nor its conclusion…

The mind is empty luminosity;

it is peaceful and clear, free from elaboration.

―Commentary on a few lines of Absolute Bodhicitta
