Whatever Happens

Nyala_Pema_DuddulGain and loss, happiness and unhappiness,

fame and infamy, praise and blame

—these are the eight worldly concerns.

Whatever happens, whether it appears good or bad,

pleasurable or painful,

recognize it to be just like the ten similes of illusion!

And, in a state of perfection, transcending the ordinary mind,

and beyond words, thought and elaboration,

rest in the expanse of the view,

away from the limitations of hope and fear!

Tashi, what are ” the ten similes of illusion”?

    • Tashi Nyima says:

The traditional sequence of ten similes consists of smoke, snow crystals, fireflies, lamp, fire, moon, sun, blue disk, forked lightning, and blue drop containing a black seed. However, these may appear in a different order, or not at all, before the emergence of the Empty Form of your own Buddha Nature.
