Right Livelihood

dharma-wheel-gsp-808Along with Right Speech and Right Action, Right Livelihood belongs to the triad of ethical conduct in the Eightfold Noble Path. It entails not only earning a living without compromising the Precepts of Right Speech and Right Action, but also living in such a way that we do not violate them ourselves, or induce others to infringe them on our behalf.

Specifically, Right Livelihood refers to (1) procuring resources ethically, (2) managing those resources prudently, and (3) utilizing them in such a way that reduces or eliminates harm to ourselves, other sentient beings, society, and the environment.
