Lineage

Jonang LineageLineage is very important in Buddhism in general, and is of particular importance in the Vajrayana, the swift vehicle. Lineage is not only the historical record of the disciplic succession of masters who have held and transmitted a particular teaching, nor is it the teaching itself, as expressed orally or preserved in writing.

The disciplic succession of the Jonang Masters and their distinctive teachings on Other Emptiness, Buddha Nature, and Vajra Yoga are important, but what is truly essential is the spiritual energy that is transmitted from heart to heart.

The Jonang lineage lives in the thoughts, words, and deeds of those who have sought, received, cherished, practiced, and attained perfection in the Pure Dharma of Definitive Meaning, the Great Middle Way.
