The mind is originally perfect and bright, but it is scattered into myriad branches, losing the perfection and dimming the light of its wisdom in adverse conditions of craving.
The purpose of meditation lies in attaining the power of spiritual cultivation and the light of wisdom by subduing defilements and gathering the scattered mind into the concentration of one mind.
