8th Bodhisattva Vow

As a disciple of the Buddha, I must not be stingy or encourage others to be stingy. I should not create the causes, conditions, methods, or karma of stinginess.

As a Bodhisattva, whenever destitute persons come for help, I should give them what they need. If instead, out of anger and resentment, I deny all assistance, refusing to help with even a coin, a needle, a blade of grass, or a single sentence or verse or a phrase of Dharma, but scold and abuse them, I commit a major offense.
