There are four reasons why the birth of Bodhisattvas is most excellent among living beings: first, because it is based on ultimately pure accumulations of virtue; second, because it is chosen intentionally, with knowing discernment; third, because it is based on compassion, to liberate sentient beings; and fourth, because Bodhisattvas are undefiled themselves and remove the defilements of others.
